2nd Donation by Mayesh Wholesale Flowers
Last week, one of the largest floral wholesalers in the country had their regional San Diego County Design Competition! It is one of their ways to introduce the newest flower varieties to the public, as well as nurturing the excellence and innovation in local floral designers.
Cindy Huntzinger, from Mayesh Wholesale Flowers in Carlsbad, CA, emailed me last January to ask if Heliotrope for Hospice would be interested in the flowers after the design competition, and of course, I said…”YES”! Knowing how amazing their product is, I knew the flowers would have a long vase life, and even after the designs had been on display for a few days, I could definitely repurposed the blooms into bedside arrangements. So in January, they delivered all the artistic (and some avante garde/bizarre!) arrangements, and I was thrilled to receive that donation!
Last week, Mayesh hosted another design competition, and Cindy contacted me once again to donate the flowers. Chay, their delivery driver, generously delivered the arrangements to my front door, and my living room became a “floral gallery” of sorts, as I carefully dismantled the designs and reconditioned the usable flowers, foliage and accessories. I love to see the innovation in these designs! Since they are for competition, most are too large for the rooms at hospice, but with some time and effort, many small mason jars were the result- and I had enough product to make extra arrangements for The Cloisters, a long term care facility in the area. The residents were very happy to receive bright flowers for their bedside tables as well!
Many thanks to Cindy, and everyone at Mayesh Wholesale Flowers! I appreciate you so much. Please know that your floral donations to Heliotrope for Hospice go a long way to make people feel special, to acknowledge them in a unique way, and to help them celebrate each day.
How wonderful that Mayesh made a connection with you. Heliotrope for Hospice spread happiness to many with those beautiful donated flowers that you recreated into lovely little arrangements. Recievers smiled!!!!!!!!!
