Summer’s End with Succulents

Succulents- Long lasting & lovely- if you’re a fan of succulents, you already know they’re one of the most forgiving plants! Water every two weeks, provide a good light source, and you’ve got yourself an easy companion. So many varieties, colors, shapes and textures to collect (aka hoard!)) I don’t know their names by heart, but I love them all!  Place around your home, inside & out, creating focal points or accents of living, oxygen producing decor!

Donations of plants are always welcome. Some of my favorites have come from Trader Joe’s. When they have an overstock of an item that needs to move, (so they can stock more inventory as it ships in) Kris will give me a call to see if I can receive a plant donation. ALWAYS, of course! The containers are quality, & have seasonal themes. The last succulent donation was in the Spring, and these white dove ceramics were the sweetest gift to place on a bedside table.

Heliotrope for Hospice twill ribbon banners

After watering each planter & removing any dehydrated leaves, I make small ribbon flags (mini-banners!) so each person who receives a planter knows the gift was cared for & sent by Heliotrope for Hospice. I think the recipients, caregivers, nurses, staff & family enjoy the surprise of a living plant.

Easy to tend, with a calming presence, if you’re ever wondering what to give to someone in hospice care, consider a succulent, or any small low care plant, blooming or green. Check out your local Trader Joe’s for so many choice! I’m confident you’ll find the perfect gift to touch someone’s heart.
